Netflix gets Parental Council warning over ‘Squid Game’

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) said that they hope content inspired by the “Squid Game” attaches a “parental warning”.

Quoting Fox News, Monday, a parental warning needs to be attached to the “Squid Game” because it contains many scenes of murder, sexual abuse, and abusive words.

According to them, this needs to be done so that they can take appropriate action, either by implementing parental controls or supervising children on social media and platforms. games.

“Netflix must act as a gatekeeper to ensure content that is harmful to minors is not distributed on their platform,” said Melissa Henson, PTC program director.

“Netflix needs to realize that if it fails to self-regulate, it invites regulation from government agencies, and that could lead to worse outcomes for Netflix and for the family.”

The hashtag “Squid Game” has reportedly been viewed more than 22.8 billion times on TikTok. Melissa also explained that minors are young teenagers. The show was also watched by minors through the platform online game like Roblox and Minecraft.

“Squid Game” which occupies the No.1 position in the United States has also been viewed by more than 82 million subscribers from all over the world in the first 28 days.
