Jakarta (ANTARA) – Actors Adipati Dolken, Yayan Ruhian and Donny Damara also appear in the film “Penalin Cahaya”.
Through the first trailer, the audience gets a synopsis of the story of the film “Penalin Cahaya”, which is about Sur (Shenina Cinnamon) who has to lose her scholarship due to being deemed to have defamed the faculty after her drunk selfie was circulated.
He doesn’t remember anything that happened to him when he attended the theater community’s victory party at his college. During the party, Sur is unconscious. He then asks Amin (Chicco Kurniawan), his childhood friend who is also a photocopier who lives and works on campus, to find out what really happened to him on the night of the party.
Quoted from an official statement on Monday, the film “Penalin Cahaya” (international title: “Photocopier”) is included in the main competition program of New Currents and has held a World Premiere at the 26th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on October 8, 2021.
In the BIFF competition, “Penalin Cahaya” competed with ten films from nine other countries to win four important awards, namely the New Currents Award, New Currents Audience Award, NETPAC Award, and FIPRESCI Award. In the BIFF event which will be held on 6-15 October 2021, 223 films from 70 countries will be screened in theaters by implementing strict health protocols.
“Penilin Cahaya” also received 17 nominations for the Citra Cup at the 2021 Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Actor nominations for Shenina Syawalita Cinnamon, Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Chicco Kurniawan, Best Supporting Actor for Dena Panendra, two Best Supporting Actor nominations for Jerome Kurnia and Giulio Parengkuan.
The film “The Light Copying” is Wregas Bhanuteja’s first feature-length film. He has made short films that have successfully entered international film festival competitions. Among others, “Lemantun” (winner of Best Short Film at XXI Short Film Festival 2015), “Lembusura” (compete at Berlin International Film Festival 2015), “Prenjak” (winner of Best Short Film at Semaine de la Critique-Cannes Film Festival 2016 and the 2016 FFI Citra Cup), and “Nothing’s Crazy in This City” (winner of the 2019 FFI Citra Cup), and competed at the 2019 Busan International Film Festival and the 2020 Sundance Film Festival).
